Types of riding breeches:

  • Full-seat breeches - Most commonly used for event and dressage riding. Full-seat breeches offer gripping fabrics from the inner thigh to the knee and provide a stickier seat, enabling you to stay more firmly in the saddle.
  • Knee Patch breeches - typically worn by hunter and jumper riders. The gripping fabric on knee-patch breeches is in the knee area only.
  • Riding tights/Schooling tights - Riding tights are breeches but look a little more like yoga pants. Riding tights are ideal for schooling, wearing around the paddock, or while doing barn work.

How should riding breeches fit?

Your breeches should have a snug fit that keeps the fabric from getting caught in the tack and ensures a comfortable bulk-free boot fit.

What color breeches should I purchase?

While tan (and sometimes white) is the gold standard across most disciplines, breeches come in a wide variety of colors that you can enjoy while schooling.

Do breeches come in plus sizes?

Yes, if you've got a curvy figure, we've got you covered with breeches in L-XXL, you can find our full section of plus-size breeches here.

What breeches brands are best?

We carry and recommend Ariat, Equiline, Tailored Sportsman, RJ Classics, Samshield, Kerrits, TuffRider, Romfh, to list just a few. If we carry it, we've tested it, and we recommend it.
