Types of riding tights:

  • Full-seat tights - Most commonly used for event and dressage schooling. Full-seat riding tights offer gripping fabrics from the inner thigh to the knee and provide a stickier seat, enabling you to stay more firmly in the saddle.
  • Knee patch tights - Typically worn by hunter and jumper riders for schooling. The gripping fabric on knee-patch breeches is in the knee area only, so you can move more freely in the saddle.

Riding tights vs. leggings

Riding tights are not your average leggings. Leggings don’t provide the same support and durability that riding tights do. Riding leggings or tights for equestrians often offer gripping that helps you stay on the horse, which is especially helpful for beginners. Plus, most of them feature a phone pocket for added convenience.

Should you buy riding tights or breeches?

Riding tights are a type of breech ideal for schooling, exercising, or caring for your horse. They add a level of comfort and stretch without sacrificing style. On the other hand, breeches are required for competitions, though you can wear them for schooling as well. If you’re looking for the perfect pair of breeches, shop our collection.
